中國白酒英文名“Chinese Baijiu”

1月11日，經與海關總署稅收征管局(京津)多次溝通，中國酒業協會于2020年4月25日正式向海關總署提出申請，建議將海關商品名錄中中國白酒的英文名字由原來的“Chinese distilled spirits”更改為“Chinese Baijiu”。

Accounting for one-third of the world's total consumption of distilled spirits, China's famous distilled spirit will officially be called "Chinese Baijiu" in English; it has been mentioned as such in Chinese official documents since January 1.
消費量約占世界蒸餾酒的三分之一，中國白酒英文名正式啟用“Chinese Baijiu”；自1月1日起，中國官方文件中已經進行了修改。

在1月1日正式執行的2021年《中華人民共和國進出口稅則》，已經對白酒的英文名稱進行了修改。

中國白酒與白蘭地、威士忌、伏特加、朗姆酒和金酒一起并稱為世界六大蒸餾酒。

Chinese distilled spirit, a clear liquor made from sorghum and other grains, is one of the six major distilled spirits in the world, in addition to Brandy, Whisky, Vodka, Rum and Gin.
中國白酒是以高粱等谷物為原料釀造的清酒，與白蘭地、威士忌、伏特加、朗姆酒和金酒一起并稱為世界六大蒸餾酒。

中國白酒消費量約占世界蒸餾酒的三分之一。但多年來，中國白酒缺乏一個官方的準確的英文名稱，比如Chinese spirits（中國白酒）, Chinese distilled spirits（中國蒸餾酒）, Chinese liquor（中國烈酒）等都稱為“中國白酒”。

Although its consumption accounts for one-third of the total consumption of distilled spirits around the world due to China's huge consumer base, it did not have an official English name, and was called a variety of names including Chinese spirits, Chinese distilled spirits and Chinese liquor.
由于中國龐大的消費群體，中國白酒的消費量占全球蒸餾酒消費總量的三分之一，但卻沒有官方的英文名稱，Chinese spirits（中國白酒）, Chinese distilled spirits（中國蒸餾酒）, Chinese liquor（中國烈酒）等都稱為“中國白酒”。

2019年開始，中國白酒的系列國家標準進行修訂《白酒工業術語》（Terminology of baijiu industry），并對白酒的英文名稱進行了修訂：白酒，英文名字：Baijiu。同時在國際期刊、會議和文獻上，經學術界的努力和宣傳，白酒（Chinese Baijiu）在逐漸被國內外行業專家及消費者所認知。

中酒協相關負責人表示，近年來協會組織白酒企業參加的各種食品飲料展會上也都統一使用“Chinese Baijiu”，相信隨著時間的推移，“Chinese Baijiu”的知名度將越來越高。此次更改對于準確描述中國白酒這一民族產品，規范白酒出口名稱，擴大中國白酒的國際影響力都具有積極的作用。

An industry insider from the China Alcoholic Drinks Association thinks that the revised English name will play a positive role in accurately describing Chinese Baijiu as a national product, standardizing the export name of the liquor and expanding the international influence of the Chinese liquor, Sichuan Daily reported.
據《四川日報》報道，中酒協一位業內人士認為，修訂后的英文名稱將對準確描述中國白酒這一民族產品、規范白酒出口品名稱、擴大中國白酒的國際影響力起到積極作用。

還有網友點贊“這事挺好，要為我國海關點個贊?！?/p>

一位網友評論道，“作為世界六大蒸餾酒的龍頭，應該有個規范的英文名，為從中國范走向世界范，打個好底子。中國白酒獨特味道及其文化，也應該向國外進發?！?/p>

值得一提的是，微博話題#中國白酒英文名改了#14日登上了熱搜榜，“四六級考生”變身喜大普奔的群體，不少網友直呼“太好了！英語六級不怕了！”。

網友紛紛表示這個英文名好讀又好寫，四六級翻譯不用背了。
